1960s:
Empowering industry with technology
AVEVA launches in 1967 as CADCentre, pioneering the use of computer-aided design (CAD) techniques to empower industrial innovation
1970s:
Visualizing new dimensions
In 1976, we pioneer the world’s first 3D plant design system, generating realistic photographic images from 3D computer models
1980s:
Pioneering industrial data, simulation and control
Ground-breaking industrial technologies that later join the AVEVA portfolio make their mark. OSIsoft launches the PI SystemTM, a high-resolution historian tool that stores and analyzes operational data. Simulation Sciences introduces the first process simulation software to run on any mainframe or PC. Wonderware delivers the first Human Machine Interface (HMI) software built on Microsoft Windows. And Citect for DOS enables PC-based operator interface software.
1990s:
Fostering industrial collaboration
We launch the first immersive engineering virtual reality center for plant design. Shortly after, we pioneer the first Internet-based collaborative plant design solution, enabling customers to work simultaneously with partners and contractors in multiple locations.
2000s:
Integrating design and production
We pioneer the first interoperable plant and marine design and production system, integrating ship hull data with plant design. We also officially become AVEVA in 2001.
2010s:
Empowering industrial workers
AVEVA becomes one of the world’s largest industrial software companies, forging a strategic alliance with Schneider Electric. Among the many innovations over the decade is an immersive, multiplayer simulation tool that fosters safety in plant operations training.
2020s:
Driving responsible use of the world’s resources
AVEVA is named one of the world’s most innovative companies for pioneering sustainable technologies. So far in this decade we’ve helped engineers factor greenhouse gas reduction into plant designs, optimize their solar energy production, operate remotely, and achieve net zero goals using AI and industrial data sharing.
