Stories from the frontlines of life sciences transformation: San Francisco edition
Posted: October 13, 2023
The best part of my job is the conversations I have with our life sciences customers. Take a recent industry forum we hosted in the San Francisco area for example.
One leader told us about an automation system that monitors every facet of his company’s 40-building campus infrastructure—from lab equipment and hazardous materials to lighting, HVAC, energy and water consumption. It looks for opportunities to launch condition-based maintenance work orders and even dashes off polite, personalized reminders when an employee forgets to close the flume sash hood. It helps the company conserve a lot of precious resources, including water, energy, time and money.
Yes, the system was based on AVEVA™ PI System™ technology. But that’s not the only reason I enjoyed it and a few dozen other stories of inspiration, digitalization, innovation and occasional frustration we heard that day. It was just great to hear practitioners and partners discuss shared challenges, opportunities and questions such as:
- Is there a faster, low-cost path to the golden batch?
- What is the role of the cloud in a highly regulated environment?
- Are sustainability and cost-effectiveness always linked?
- Does anyone have a common definition of digital transformation in life sciences?
If you missed it, check out the summary here (and let your account manager or our digital team know if you’d like to attend future events).
And if you haven’t already, please register to join us (in person or digitally) for the connected ecosystem in life sciences track at AVEVA World 2023.
