ACCIONA: The great collaboration
ACCIONA, Schneider Electric and AVEVA have been working together for over 18-months to develop an improved seawater desalination plant management application using AVEVA PI System. In this presentation, Acciona will share their co-creation process, key challenges and lessons learned, and the functionalities of the new desalination solution (P.A.S.). Underscoring the importance of collaboration in overcoming challenges, this session will also include a discussion on the tangible benefits of PAS including enhanced data management, operational insights and improved sustainability performance.

Guillermo Hijós has been working in Acciona Agua for over 20 years in key international desalination projects such as Beckton (UK), Tampa (USA), Fajardo (Puerto Rico), Tarragona (Spain) and Adelaide (Australia). In 2016 he joined the team that designed, built and commissioned the 163MLD (RAF A3) and 280MLD (Umm Al Houl) SWRO plants in Qatar as the O&M Project Director and is now managing the Operations and Maintenance of all desalination plants in the Middle East and Oceania. As part of his role, Guillermo has promoted digital transformation of the organization with participation in projects such as the COMS (Computerized Operations Management System), the PMS (Plant Management System) and the Digital Twin amongst others.

Digitalisation Technology Technical Leader at AccionaMariano is an advanced IT and OT expert with years of experience in Electrical engineering, communication networks, customised software and hardware solutions, and the application of new technology in the industrial sector. He is the technical leader responsible for the digitalization, technology and circular economy department at Acciona for water and wastewater treatment. He is passionate about using his expertise to drive innovation and to make a difference in the future of our planet. He holds degrees in both computer engineering from the college Innovation Luis Vives and in political science from the Complutense University of Madrid.
