Driving manufacturing excellence at dsm-firmenich with AI and standardized PI Server data
Standardizing the data throughout a global manufacturing network can be a major endeavor. At the same time, gathering data for production issues on the plant level is often a process of manual report compilations and time-consuming data contextualization. The presentation shows how DSM-Firmenich completed an impressive global implementation of AVEVA PI Server and Asset Framework, establishing the Operations Data Layer (ODL), a standardized data platform supporting 3,500 users, while creating day-to-day business value by utilizing the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) KPI. It shows how process data from the PI Server is contextualized in Shiftconnector plant process managment to help manufacturing teams drive continuous improvement in batch and continuous operations, from active ingredients manufacturing to filling and packing lines. The presentation will also illustrate how collecting and contextualizing performance data from the PI Server preserves operational knowledge, which can then be accessed through an AI copilot, supporting industrial workers in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and onboarding the next generation of workforce to the plant.
