Striking Copper and Gold: How Data increased Ok Tedi’s recovery rates
Ok Tedi, PNG’s longest-running open-pit mine, faced challenges including declining ore grades, operational instability, and diminished trust in process control systems. In collaboration with Mipac, the Processing Improvement department harnessed the AVEVA PI System to tackle digital maturity gaps, inefficiencies, and equipment reliability issues. This presentation highlights Ok Tedi’s data-driven recovery strategy, which delivered measurable outcomes, including a 2.4% increase in copper recovery and a 7.4% improvement in gold recovery. Additionally, the presentation will detail Ok Tedi's deployment of AVEVA Production Management and AVEVA Plant SCADA to support its operational advancements.
