Plant integration and connectivity
IIoT and cloud-ready communication strategies require a broad set of connectivity options. AVEVA Communication Drivers provide a single, hardware-independent platform that helps you enforce standards, simplifies configuration, promotes consistency, and maximises communication uptime.
Expand Your Geographical Reach with New Telemetry Server
Build geographically distributed SCADA and Telemetry applications with increased ease using native built-in drivers such as DNP3, IEC 60870 and Modbus.
Hardware and Vendor-Agnostic Connectivity
And because Communication Drivers are hardware independent, you enjoy a common interface for configuring, deploying and managing connectivity. Built on open plant philosophy, Communication Drivers enable seamless configuration and integration. Our Communication Drivers connect to any OPC UA Server and support open communication connectivity protocols such as MQTT, OPC DA, and OPC UA.
Improve connectivity and engineering efficiency
- Auto-Build: Reduce PLC connectivity configuration efforts by almost 50 percent with the ability to automatically read and structure a PLC program based on current schema.
- Multi-Instance Support: Consolidate scattered architectures by running multiple, completely independent instances of the same driver in a single node.
- Parallel Independent I/O Processing: Improve your overall throughput and performance per driver and per node.
- Single Node Side-by-Side Upgrades: Run previous driver versions while adding a new driver version of the same driver protocol for growth without disruptions.
Communication Drivers features
Seamlessly connect and integrate different devices and systems with supervisory HMI and historized data storage.
Improve Engineering Efficiency with Automatic Tag and PLC Control Strategy
The new Auto-Build feature helps improve engineering efficiency by reading the structure of a PLC program and automatically building the Application Server templates and instances based on the PLC schema. This can result in drastically shortened development time and better integration between System Platform and PLCs.
Auto-Build is currently supported for Rockwell Allen-Bradley Logix family of controllers as well as for the Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 family of controllers.
OPC UA & MQTT Support
Device Integration Gateway is a communications protocol converter. It links clients and data sources that communicate using different protocols, and also acts as an OPC UA client. Device Integration Gateway now also supports message queuing telemetry transport (MQTT) protocol, making device configuration, integration, and interoperability easier than ever.
Support for IIoT Connectivity Applications
To facilitate greater adoption and integration of IIoT edge device applications, we’ve introduced free 32-tag tiny application support. This enables you to integrate edge applications with 32 or fewer tags and to connect online or to System Platform without requiring an additional license.
Reduced Application Costs and Increased Throughput
Communication Drivers help consolidate scattered architectures into fewer nodes. They enable parallel independent processing of I/O by individual driver instances. This increases overall throughput or improves performance per driver and per node. A single-node license now covers as many servers as you want in a single node.
Seamless Version Upgrades Without Communication Disruptions
Communication Drivers provide single node side-by-side upgrade capability. This unique capability lets you upgrade to newer versions of your current drivers without disrupting continued operation of the legacy drivers.
Unlimited Scalability with Multi-Instance Architecture
Eliminate the need to restrict a single driver to a single node. Now you can run multiple, completely independent instances of the same driver on a single node. This unique feature will allow unlimited driver instances, restricted only by computer hardware specifications.
